““We visited the Lion Tree Top Lodge in September as a part of a multi-day tour in and around Kruger.

From the minute we arrived we were blown away at the hospitality and unique atmosphere which Gill and West had created. It was absolutely incredible.

Getting to meet and walk with Demi and Tana was so special that I'm afraid words don't do it justice. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of an already amazing trip. To top it all off, West was a fabulous host and the BBQ pit / dinner venue and bar made for a great evening.
I cannot wait to visit again!
Thanks West for a fantastic memory and we eagerly look forward to next time!””

““The walk with lions has been the highlight of my two weeks in South Africa. From a beautiful lodge, amazing hosts, terrific food, as well as two of the most incredible white lions, this experience will thrill anyone.””

“My husband is South African and we visit family and friends every Christmas. At the start of our trip we treat ourselves to a holiday before catching up with family and friends in Jo'burg. This year we were fortunate enough to have been told about Lion Treetop Lodge and to spend 4 days of our holiday there. We cannot recommend this experience enough.

The accommodation is lovely, not luxurious as such but unique in every way. As well as an inside shower and a sunken bath there's also an outdoor shower from which I watched zebra and buck walk by whilst showering!

The beauty and uniqueness of Lion Treetop Lodge is that you're in a nature reserve where you can walk by yourself and see beautiful animals wander by. We walked every day and came across giraffe, zebra, wilderbeest, monkeys, impala and my favourite - the dung beetle - plus others.

There were two highlights for us 1) Tana and Demi, the two gorgeous white lions that West and Gill have raised after they were orphaned 2) the hospitality that we were treated to by Gill, Brian, Don, Lynn and the rest of the team - the food was second to none - as good as any exclusive restaurant. Walking with the lions is something we will never forget. Seeing Tana and Demi come running out of the house and being able to stroke them and walk with them was simply amazing. If you get the chance to visit then you must and make sure you take the time to walk and relax in the beautiful surroundings.”

Gogo and Mandisa
“Gogo, Mandisa and I had a really fantastic time at Lion Tree Top Lodge. To be honest, it was one of the very best weekend trips that we have had for a very long time. Gill and West are the owners and are wonderful hosts. The whole idea of walking with the white lions is a fantastic. Here is the really good news:

Gill is not a chef. Nor are her 2 helpers. As you know, I was in the five star hotel business where I worked for the largest hotel group in the world. I also spent an extra 4 years in the kitchen because I was fascinated with how the European chefs made food taste so delicious. Gill and her 2 helpers’ food was fantastic. I would recommend their food ANYTIME. They do not have to stand back for anyone.

Getting back to the Lion Tree Top Lodge: The concept of a tented home in the trees initially seemed a lot different. The tree tent homes were an instant hit for Mandisa. It was adventure time! Gogo and I found it to be very spacious yet cosy. I loved the rooms.

Obviously, the highlight was the walks with the 2 white lioness cubs. West takes nothing to chance. He has a few guides / security that walk with the guests ensuring that the cubs do not get rough. It is VERY safe and gives tourists an excellent chance to see how these cubs, even though they have been protected, show their natural instinct of stalking and chasing. If you have any customers that want something different, this is definitely the guest lodge that you should promote.

We have been to so many game lodges where the highlight is a game ride at 16h00 until 21h00. Then you have to get up early in the morning to go on another game drive at 05h00. Once you have done this for a few times, it really becomes extremely boring. There is very little excitement to talk of. Lion Tree Top Lodge is completely different. When we walked with the cubs, which was an unbelievable experience on its own, we saw wilderbeest, zebra, fox, buck and a host of fascinating bird life. And you get to exercise at the same time. You also get to learn a lot about the lions in their natural habitat. West, has very capable guides / security that are very well versed in answering any questions relating to the lionesses.

Finally, the hospitality is what impressed me most. Gill and West spend a lot of quality time with their clients without being in your face. They are customer driven and have a passion for what they do.”
